2007 Recall of Some Wooden Vehicles and Train Set Components
- In the interests of maintaining the highest quality standards of safety of RC2 Learning Curve brand products, a limited number of products sold under the Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway were recalled in 2007.
- RC2 advise that, as part of their normal ongoing investigations into product quality and safety, they identified and determined that specific surface paint on select parts of various Thomas Wooden Railway engines and components, may contain lead.
- Excess lead paint levels can cause adverse health affects if ingested by young children, so the affected items were recalled.
- The recall was associated only with the specified wooden products listed below, and applied to products purchased by consumers after the specified dates.
- In the NZ market, No Other Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway products were affected by this recall, although in other countries (such as the US & Australia) the recall covered additional lines.
- No incidents or injuries have been reported to date in any country.
- RC2 further advise that the manufacturing facility associated with this matter has been isolated and corrective action implemented.
